Lots of good news on the outer brook trout pond front – several of them have been fishing really well, with some good sized fish to boot.
The picture of the two brookies in this post were supplied by TTL guest Ryan Patalano. He caught and released some spectacular brook trout at a Pittsburg outer pond whose identity will remain concealed …
The magic fly for Ryan was a Royal Coachman wet, but I have a feeling that the Golden Demon was also very effective, as he nearly cleaned us out of that pattern.
It was hot and sunny this weekend, so subsurface patterns were probably the way to go. When it’s not so sunny, have an Adams or BWO handy for surface action.
The outer ponds were a great option for anglers getting away from the river crowd this weekend, as the north country was very busy.
Coon Brook Bog, Big Brook Bog, East Inlet, Round Pond, Scott Bog, Moose Pond and Middle Pond all provided good fishing this weekend, and you can get to all of them now that most of the roads are open.
Haven’t heard anything yet about Boundary Pond, but our agents will be out and about before next weekend.
