This is the time of year to finally get out on one of Pittsburg’s many outer ponds, if you haven’t already. Brook trout inhabit these places, some of which are of the native variety, and some of which are stocked by the N.H. Fish & Game Department. Each pond is unique, and at least one of them is sure to become your favorite.
Abnormally awesome weather weekend in the north country didn’t materialize in to many trout for the Green Mountain Project Healing Waters veterans that we hosted. This brown trout was the exception – 20″ and very healthy and swimming the depths again today.
That is the question that is most on angler minds at the moment, and while it definitely feels like spring is here to stay, it will take a bit of time for our fishing to heat up.
However, as the saying goes, a bad day of fishing still beats a good day of work …
Our fishing season is winding down, as we have just 13 days of angling left until it’s conclusion. Bittersweet for sure, as you enjoy some spectacularly beautiful fall days on the river, all the while knowing that it’s going to end soon …
Is there anything more beautiful that a brook trout in spawning colors? I didn’t think so.
