It may be hard to tell from the picture, but the Tall Timber fleet was at it tonight finally, after yesterday evening’s gusty winds kept nearly everyone off the lake. The lake surface was a little calmer tonight, allowing for some close encounters of the hexagenia kind.
The trout were in prime feeding mode too – lots of slurping going on out there tonight when I was out taking pictures.
And the report? Pretty good. While the hatch is still not quite in top gear, it was pretty active, especially after 8 PM. Super-sized stimulators were working really well, but any of the hex dun patterns would also produce – the fish are just getting used to this two week smorgasbord!
Get up here is you can, it’s what we’ve been waiting for all year …
