Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and the fishing was pretty good again at Back Lake. The Bateson men, pictured above from their modified “tuna boat”, did very well mostly with copper super dupers, brown rooster tails and phoebes, but other groups continued using the “88” and variations of a soft hackle streamer, with great success. Even Ty Hilton got in on the act, nailing several rainbows on the super duper – nice going Ty!!
OMR and Cindy were out there on the lake a couple of nights ago and said that they were catching fish on hendricksons, and we’ve also had some flying ants around the last few days, so put on a big black ant pattern if you’re casting on the lake soon. The hex season is only 2 – 3 weeks away now, and it may even begin sooner with the warm weather we’ve had lately. We’ll keep you posted on that.
River flows remain on the high side, but hopefully things will be moderating soon. Trout and salmon are being caught, but everyone’s working for their river fish right now. Also, June is the month for stocking, so expect NH Fish & Game trucks to be out and about over the next few weeks.
