Are we really “After The Flood” up here in northern New Hampshire? Good question, as there is still quite a bit of snow still to melt in the higher elevations, but lots of our snow in the valleys has melted away.
This is the “before the s—load of snow” fishing report from yesterday’s activities. Today actually would have been a better day to be on the water in Pittsburg, but yesterday was the plan, so we carried through with it.
It is prime fishing up here right now. Salmon and trout are heading up into the Connecticut River for the fall spawn, and the Connecticut River from the No-Kill all the way past Murphy Dam is fishing well.
Good fishing and easy wading continues up here in New Hampshire’s north country. As a result of all of our great weather, the flows remain low out of all of the dams on the Connecticut Lakes, allowing us to access areas that normally are hard to get to.
One of our intrepid readers asked me if the green drake hatch had started yet on Back Lake. My reply was “no”, but we think that our Brown Drake started this week – many of these critters have been on the windows at the lodge lately, so it’s time to break out the dries for the lake.
Good times fishing on Pittsburg, NH’s outer ponds this weekend – lots of action at Round Pond yesterday, and Coon Brook Bog was good too. It’s not rocket science with our eager brook trout right now: Adams and Yellow Hornbergs worked great, and “on the strip” no less!
