Happy Fathers Day Everybody
Short and sweet one about dads – it’s his day today, so whether they’re with you or not, wish them a good one and spend some quality time together today.

It was a beautiful day in Pittsburg today and Jon & I finished off our day with a gorgeous evening fishing on Back Lake. The fishing was fantastic with a huge Brown Drake hatch coming off that provided great dry fly fishing.
That’s a brown drake that landed on a lodge window a few days ago, one of quite a few that were perched there. The brown drake hatch is a precursor to the Cahill and yellow drake hatches on Back Lake, so it’s time to start getting ready for the hexagenias as well. We expect Mr. Hex to be here in a couple more weeks.
Seems like the trout finally woke up on Back Lake this weekend, as some of our guests did very well on the resident brook trout by dragging a Winnipesaukee Smelt (pictured above) on floating fly line around the lake. We think that other streamers would work well too – the Golden Demon, Gray Ghost, Black Ghost and Mickey Finn are solid choices every spring on Back Lake.
Our friend Henry Longmire loves the winter fishing up here in Pittsburg on the Connecticut River and he works hard at it. This beauty was landed last Thursday. Nice one Henry!
I know, I know…we’ve been slacking on updating our blog…It’s been super busy around here… So here’s the skinny on what’s been happening up here.
