GULP ! …  SLURP ! ….

These are a couple of the many sounds you’ll hear on Back Lake if you take time out to visit us over the next few weeks. The hexagenia limbata (hex) hatch is definitely on following last night’s mayfly smorgasbord and there were many happy trout and bass that partook of nature’s bounty.

There were actually even a few stragglers out there this morning, but believe me, they didn’t last too long in most cases, eventhough I did spot a few flying to safety. After all, we want some hexes to make it so that this whole glorious process continues again next year. Last night? It was pretty good for our people – quite a few chunky rainbows and brookies were brought to justice, and even a few nice bass as well.  The wind settled down nicely last night, and they were popping everywhere, particularly from about 8:30 to dark. Cindy did very well, primarily with hex dun imitations.

The forecast calls for continued great weather over the next few days, so it should be pretty hot out there.  We still have a couple of openings for this weekend and next week, so give us a call if you can make it – we’d love to have you here!
