Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

The Weather’s Hot, but the Fishing’s Hotter …

That fish has got it made – lurking in the depths of the Trophy Stretch, waiting to ambush his next meal coming down the river. Wish we had it like that, but that is wishful thinking. Actually, that fish is resting after his brawl with Angus – guess who won …

Angus's first fish of the season (really)

Angus had a rare opportunity to actually pick up the rod the other day (actually the first time he’s been able to do so on the Trophy Stretch this year), and brought this brookie in quickly. He got it on his “Scout” pattern that I’ve mentioned here before. Guess I’m going to have to get one of them some time …

It’s a little on the warm side, but the fishing out at the Trophy has been real good. Dries when the weather allows, but lots of beadheads and buggers these days because of the high sun. Start with the classy stuff, but don’t hesitate to get down and dirty with buggers and San Juans (or variations thereof) if you must.

After all, you’re up here to catch fish, right?
