Sunny Days, Great Fishing

Looks like summer is here, at long last. Temps have risen, and the fishing has followed suit. Back Lake has continued to produce well, as has the Trophy Stretch.

Here’s the synopsis:

Andro Report 6/14

OMR hit the Androscoggin today after the Connecticut turned out to be high and muddy, with some great results. Nymphing most of the way, his people landed quite a few nice fish, with the jewel in the crown being a 20″, 4 lb. brown landed by Bruce Pilch (one of our River Helpers from the C.F.R. retreat!). A beadhead flashback pheasant tail lured this big boy to bite, but there’s plenty more out there for sure.

6/9 Fishing Report

That’s Tim Poole’s hands with a big brookie taken on the Trophy Stretch yesterday. Tim used to be, prefers to be a dry fly fisherman, but he’s learned that nymphing pays dividends too. Nice job Tim! Hoping you’re surviving the sweltering conditions better than some of us are – it’s just too darn hot! But, we know the alternative, so we’ll take the heat for now …

5/25 Fishing Report

Well, there’s varying reports out there right now on the fishing – some good, some not so good, but everyone having a good time trying. The synopsis is that parts of the Connecticut River have been on the slow side, while some of our lakes and ponds have been pretty good. Here it is in a nutshell:

Only a couple of days left…

It’s been a little tough fishing for some people but most seem to be getting a few fish on a variety of flies. There doesn’t seem to be one fly that is THE fly. Here are a few photos of recent catches on the Andro and the Connecticut River.

As Garrett Morris of SNL would say…

” The Andro was bery, bery good to me”.  No, that’s what OMR said about drifting the Andro the last few weeks. The water flows were good, and the trout were cooperative.

Starting Wednesday, our weather forecast is looking great for salmon fishing. Cloudy, and maybe a little rain. Perfect!
