Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

New Guiding Service Offered at TTL

Lenny Mordarski, a long time Tall Timber guest with an unmistakable laugh (it’s really more like a cackle, and you wouldn’t forget it if you’ve ever heard it) has decided to put out his shingle as a fly fishing guide.

While Lenny is a generalist in his fishing pursuits (any type of fish, anywhere is fair game), there are several prerequisites to consider before contracting his services.

  • Lenny prefers to fish with Hornbergs. Could be Gray, or Yellow or even Olive, but the Hornberg is the fly that he prefers to use when he fishes. As a matter of fact, the Hornberg is the only fly that he fishes with, in the erroneous belief that when the “Hornberg Hatch” occurs, he’ll be ready for it …
  • He also, curiously, has an aversion to water. You see, Lenny wears hip boots when he goes fishing, so prospective clients of his need not worry about wading in to high water or fast currents. He’ll keep you high and dry at all times, in all of the places where the fish usually aren’t …
  • Lenny also is known to drop everything for the opportunity to dine on any nearby food sources. His short attention span frequently leads him in to gastronomic adventures, so he might just up and disappear from clients in search of food. Make sure you carry a map and compass, just for safety’s sake.
Lenny can’t wait to get out there and cast a Hornberg or two with you this season!

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

Okay, time for me to fess up. In case you couldn’t tell, all of this post is in jest. Lenny is a long time guest of Tall Timber, having visited us every year for as long as I can remember (early 80’s?). HE IS NOT A REGISTERED N.H. GUIDE EVERYONE!

Along with his friends Bill and Peter, they have brought a good amount of mirth when returning to Back Lake and have become an early summer tradition for us and other guests of Tall Timber.

I just couldn’t help myself when I saw him walk in the lobby with that shirt on …
