September 24th fishing report Pittsburg, NH

Is Amaya a little excited? Damn right she is!  That’s Amaya Bell with a gorgeous brookie  caught on a UV Czech nymph on the Trophy Stretch this morning.  I was able to fish today with my friends the Bells and we had a great day. We got a few fish but it was the fall foliage that was so spectacular. I would say the foliage is peak in Pittsburg right now. The water flow on the Trophy and below Murphy dam have been on the low side this week but we have heard that possibly this Friday, Trans Canada will be increasing the flows a bit. That will help the fishing and the fish.

fall foliage (1024x460)OMR drifted the Andro on Tuesday and reported back that his clients did very well on BH Pheasant Tails with a olive Hatching Pupa dropper bringing 15 + trout to the boat. Not bad for a half day drift.

Dave Poole guided on Coon Brook Bog today and reported back that his people also did well and picked up a bunch of nice brook trout. I also heard good things about Terrill Pond. Dave also did the lower Connecticut River on Tuesday and did well on Black Ants.

Back Lake was boiling tonight with rising fish.  There’s not much time left to the season. Only three weeks. Get up here before it’s over.

Connecticut River Fishing Report: 6/1

Another class of fly fishing students graduated in to the world this weekend, thanks to the efforts of Angus, Alan and Dave. Everyone had a good time, studied hard, and some of them even landed a few trout, which, as we all know, is better on a fly rod!

Connecticut River Fishing Report: 5/9

That’s the Inlet at Lake Francis, and there’s a lot of water in the inlet right now … cold water, like 40 degree water. This has made for some challenging trout and salmon fishing, and a slow start to our fishing season.

Pittsburg, NH Fishing Report 10/1/2013

That’s Angus Boezeman with an incredible rainbow he landed on September 29th below Murphy Dam. Confucius says, “Big fish make happy man”.

There have been some awesome fish landed in the last week for those diehards that get out of bed in the early morning or stay out there on the water till dark. If you want to catch the big ones, you need to be out there very early & late in the day.  Small Pheasant Tails (18), BWOs and bright streamers have been working.  The Upper Connecticut River produces some incredible fish. The water flows out of all the dams are great right now, very wadeable and should trigger spawning browns, brookies and salmon to head up river.

We’re still hearing good things about Boundary Pond and Coon Brook Bog, and we have row boats at both.

Back Lake has been on the slow side unfortunately. A few rainbows and brookies have been caught and hopefully things will turn around soon.

We’re counting down the days to the end of the season. Unbelievable how fast the season has gone by.  Tom is now guiding for birds with Monty and Rudy so he probably will have very little time fishing. I hope they have a great season hunting. The foliage is still beautiful up here so come on up before it’s over.

The Woodsman Steak and a Cold Brew are waiting for you at the Grille.

We hope to see you before it’s over.
