Summer’s flying by here in northern New Hampshire, and we have finally had our first dose of real “summer” weather. Hot and humid temps, with some serious thunderstorms mixed in, has made for changing river flow conditions on the upper Connecticut River lately. Still, the angling has remained good, due in large part to our bottom-release dams.

We’re in the tail end of the annual hex hatch on Back Lake, folks. While there were still some hexes coming off near dark last night, it sounded as though the numbers of hexes on the water were more sporadic than it had been earlier this week. There were still some nice trout caught by our guests though, so it was worth it, but there’s no doubt about it … the hex hatch will soon be at an end.
