Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

Year: 2015

Some Good News

Congratulations, everybody – there’s strength in numbers, and we were able to get the Powers That Be to see the light regarding the type of brown trout and rainbow trout fishery we could have below Murphy Dam …

Sayonara to Another Fishing Season

Yup, it’s over – in fact, it’s been nearly a week that we reeled up and put away the flies for the 2015 fishing season. It was a good one – water flows were generally good, and NH Fish & Game did a nice job in stocking some nice trout.

Tall Timber’s fly fishing guides Angus Boezeman and Dave Poole got out there on the Connecticut River’s Trophy Stretch to close out the season, and made the most of their time out there, landing some beautiful landlocked salmon.

Enjoy the pictures – we won’t see salmon again for at least a few more months.

Thank you to everyone for joining us for some fishing this season – it was great to see many old friends, and make some new ones too. We’re looking forward to 2016 already!

Connecticut River Fishing Report: 10/9

That’s a beautiful landlocked salmon that Chuck DeGray of North Country Fly Shop picked up today on the Trophy Stretch, estimated in the 22″-23″ range. It was on one of his classic soft hackle streamers, and the weather today was your typical salmon fishing weather – cold and rainy!

Upper Connecticut River Fishing Update: 9/29

Yes, it’s been many moons (even a blood moon) since we last blogged about the angling here on the Upper Connecticut River. I would love to regale you with excuses (i.e. taking “the stroll” down the aisle, getting the dogs ready for the upcoming grouse hunting season, etc.), but I know that you’re fishermen (and women), and no excuse will do.
