Finally!! The Hexes are coming off in heavy numbers. The last few days of hot & humid weather has driven up the water temperature on Back Lake which has turned on the Hex hatch.
Unfortunately this hot weather has been producing thunderstorms the last two evenings which drove people off the lake, but I’ve been watching today’s radar, and we might get lucky tonight with some possible unpleasantness happening earlier in the evening. We can only hope it will be over before the prime fishing time.
My Favorite Hex Patterns
Woodduck Heron, Foam Hexagenia, Usual, Cripple Hex and the Sparrow.
Let’s pray for calm waters, many bugs, rising fish and tight lines tonight.
See you on Back Lake soon.

OMR and I were on the lake last night, and those trout were picky. We had to keep changing flies but 5 rainbows were landed and a nice one broke off on Jon.
Au revoir mon ami!

They were out again last night, and were coming off pretty heavy in the part of the lake I was in just before dark … best flies for me were a big Usual and an Emma Nymph – lost three of those flies in big fish last night …
