Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

Back Lake Fishing Report- June 4th, 2016

It was a beautiful day in Pittsburg today and Jon & I finished off our day with a gorgeous evening fishing on Back Lake. The fishing was fantastic with a huge Brown Drake hatch coming off that provided great dry fly fishing.

Lots of rainbows cruising around slurping up the bugs and they would readily take a dry fly if presented in their path. I was using a size 10 Hornberg that the fish seemed to like.  It was a lot of fun out there tonight.

The dry fly fishing on Back Lake will only get better and better as the month of June progresses.  The Yellow Drakes will be emerging next and the exciting Hexagenia hatch should be in a couple of weeks if not sooner. Do you have your supply of Hex flies in your box?? Here’s are some of our go to flies not to be without.

I just love this time of year. It’s what we have been waiting for all winter.

Jon & I will be out on Back Lake as much as possible and we’ll have our trusty Charlie along for the ride.

It’s dry fly time!  Hope to see you on the water soon.
