Back Lake Hex Hatch Update: 6/27

Rosie (left) and Monty pointed out some areas of Back Lake to check out for hexes and trout that were after them last night. As they usually do during the bird hunting season, they did a good job of leading us to finding fish and having a great night.

What Hex Pattern Works Best?

That’s a frequent question at this time of the year on Back Lake, and unfortunately for us anglers, there’s no simple answer. There are many different hexagenia patterns, and they all seem to work at some point, so knowing when to use them might be most important to anglers.

Time To Hold Ourselves To A Higher Standard

Among her many bird finding and pointing talents, Greta was also a great companion on the river when I, or in this case, Jon, would go fishing. Her mere presence let other anglers know that I was not be trifled with, and she helped me have many peaceful angling sessions.
