The fishing season plods along here on the upper Connecticut River in northern New Hampshire. The weather in July was a general improvement, compared to what we endured in June, and it has felt downright “fall-like” lately. Temps in the 40’s in the morning, warming to the 70’s during the day – perfect weather for enjoying sparkling days on the water …
It’s been a long time … sorry about that. Between not having much time to fish and a serious case of C.R.S. (Can’t Remember S%^!), I have been woefully neglectful of my reporting of what’s happening on the water, and for that I am truly repentant …
Finally, some good weather has filtered in to our region, and last night was perhaps the best of nights to be out on Back Lake. A warm, sunny day with little wind and generally perfect conditions for targeting rising fish … but would the trout be playing the game?
The Hexagenia hatch here at Back Lake continues on, despite the changing weather that we’ve had. As evidenced by the number of hexes on our boat house this morning, you’d think that it was quite a night last night. Think again …
