Get The Gaff!

The lunker brown lurched out of the depths and grabbed hold of his arm, slowly dragging the fearful angler to his underwater abode …  (If you’re going to catch a fish like this, you might as well add a little spice to the story, otherwise known as north country embellishment.)

Well, this was one amazing fish – just brought in by Barry Rounds this afternoon. Fishing the Connecticut River south of the village, Barry hooked this magnificent brown (27″, 7 lbs., 13 oz.) that looked like it had called the river home for many a moon. The weather has been uncharacteristically beautiful lately, which is great for the soul, but is usually tough for fishermen.

Nevertheless, something tantalized Mr. Brown in to submission – garden hackle, of course!
