Connecticut River Fishing Update: 3/21

Finally, a couple of days to get out on the water Saturday through Monday for north country anglers. A few nice fish were hauled in and released, and there were even some larger ones that got away, from varying reports that I heard. This one was caught and released by Chuck Degray of North Country Fly Shop, on a Floating Smelt.

1 down, 599 to go …

The weather has taken a wintry turn in the last day or so, and it looks like we won’t be fishing anytime soon. Chuck Degray’s got his work cut out for him trying to fill his fly orders, as he kicks it in to high gear tying his famous Gray Soft Hackle Streamer. Good luck, Chuck!

The Offseason

What does a northeast fly fisher do when it’s simply too cold to take to the water? Some of us might tidy up our gear, maybe organizing our fly boxes once again after a season of fishing, or getting our leaders and tippet straightened out (no pun!).

CT River Rainbow

A beauty of a rainbow trout, caught and released last Tuesday (the final day of February) by Mickey Cunliffe. Mickey will be guiding Tall Timber’s anglers on the Connecticut River this spring, summer and fall, and he’s been sharpening up his fishing skills this winter!
