Yes the fishing season on the upper Connecticut River has started, and there’s been some hearty souls out there, trying their luck when the weather permits.
The beautiful brown above was caught and released yesterday morning – as you can see, a soft hackled streamer was the ticket to bringing this 22″ lunker to justice. A short time later, a beautiful rainbow fell victim to the same set up – thanks to Mackenzie Cayer for catching and releasing these fish and to Mickey Cunliffe for catching them on his camera.
There was also a report of a much larger fish that got away … there has been no verification of this however, so we’ll have to treat it as unsubstantiated.
What else is happening? Not too much … it is Pittsburg after all, but a few of us are gearing up to go down to the Fly Fishing Show in Marlborough, MA tomorrow. The weather looks good this weekend in southern New England and the Patriots game isn’t until later on Sunday.
Stop by our booth and shoot the bull with me, Jon (OMR), Dave and Angus. We may have a couple of special guests (well, maybe not that special) at the booth too this weekend. The fish stories and Jack are sure to be flowing …
What’s better than getting out and fishing? Talking with people that love to fish, of course!
We hope to see you there.
