The Pemigewasset River near Bristol, N.H. is still open for fishing (as are a few other rivers in the Granite State), and from all accounts, it looks like the fishing has been pretty good.
The pictures were submitted by registered N.H. Fishing Guide Mickey Cunliffe, who has learned how and where to fish the Pemi over the years. This past week he’s picked up some nice browns and a whopper (21″) of a rainbow – all were released to hopefully be reconnected with again in the future.
Sounds like he’s been using mostly streamers, and that afternoons have been best lately.
Mickey is offering half day wade trips on the Pemigewasset, when the weather permits – believe me, I wish it was a lot closer to northern New Hampshire! He will be guiding out of Tall Timber next summer, and brings his years of experience to fishing our area.
You can contact him at mickeycunliffe@gmail.com for more information.

That was a 21″ rainbow – a real beauty too. We can’t wait to get out on the Connecticut River this year – we’re only ten days away now.

Hopefully … last winter was very mild up here, so there were a few of us that managed to get out a couple of times a week from January through March, and we brought some trophy browns to the net (it’s catch and release, so they all went back). Fishing begins on the Connecticut River on January 1, so we’ll be out there, weather permitting of course!
