Upper Connecticut River Fishing Report: 7/20

We’ve had some unsettled weather here in northern New Hampshire this week, with reports of a tornado having touched down in the area of Back Lake on Monday afternoon – thankfully, no damage for us on our property, but there were quite a few trees taken down not too far away.

Friday Fatty

Griffin Nyhan, with a whopper of a Connecticut River brown trout. Caught and released – 6X leader and size 20 dry (not sure what the pattern was – figure it out for yourself …).

Griffin has grown in to a pretty good fisherman over the last few years, and his dad is understandably proud (and jealous) – spectacular brownie!

A little context to this one. This was last week, on our drifting excursion down the Connecticut River. For the first time, I was at the oars, shouting instructions and generally commanding Jon’s drift boat (not really).

Jon was able to get some fishing time with me in the boat finally, and yes, it was a straightaway that he let me row on …

Any comments?

Were they successful? Read on friends …
