Upper Connecticut River Fishing Update: May 15

What a difference a day makes – that’s how the saying goes … From 70 degrees and beautiful sun to 40 degrees and rainy, but this is good weather for fishing, and salmon fishing in particular.

Steady rain last night and scattered showers today has meant a fresh blast of water in to the river, creating some good conditions for our local landlocked salmon.

The Magalloway stretch was fishing well today, especially with streamers (for me) and nymphs (for several others) – the salmon are in and it should be good for a few days.

Lake Francis Inlet however is coffee colored, as Perry Stream was blown out with last night’s heavy rain – give it a couple of days and it should be back to normal.

Cold day tomorrow, with possible snow showers, so make sure you dress warmly and bring along your favorite libation that will keep you warm.
