The Trophy Stretch continues to fish great . Actually, I’ve heard it’s AWESOME!

And here are a few flies you might want to try.

Subsurface: Nymphing with a BH GRHE(Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear) with an Olive Hatching Pupa as a dropper, or a BH Prince with a Hare’s Ear Soft Hackle as a dropper.

Up & down:  Try running a Para Adams, a Purple Haze or an Elk Hair Caddis with a small BH Pheasant Tail as the dropper.

Dries: Tan X-Caddis, CDC Caddis or a Tan Klinkhammer. The Klink would be great too as a lead fly on the Up & Down.

Streamers: BH White or Gray Soft Hackle Streamer.

Connecticut River below Pittsburg:

Jon & I did a short drift recently on the Connecticut River. We put in just above the Canaan Dam and then Jon rowed up towards the rapids.  We started off nymphing but then started to see rising fish so we switched to emergers. A few BWOs and Yellow Sallies were coming off.

The hot fly was the Morrish’s Challenged BWO.

The Upper Connecticut River is such a great natural resource. Cold water, lots of fish and it’s so beautiful.

Back Lake, it’s been more bass than trout as of late but that’s normal in the dog days of summer.  The kids are having a great time catching a bunch of smallies right off the TTL dock. It’s a great way to get the kids into fishing.

So have you been dreaming of planning an escape, getting in some fly fishing, maybe hanging by the lake and having some fantastic food at the Grille? We have Spa Services too…..we can hook you up!
