Jon and Tom have been fishing the Upper Connecticut River below Murphy Dam this week.  Jon got this beautiful 18″ brown on one of my favorite flies, the red Goomie Worm.  They also tried Lake Francis Inlet but no fish. The water temperature there was 37 degrees. This weeks weather should bring that water temperature up which will bring landlocked salmon and trout into the inlet. Our fishing season is beginning to get underway.

The ice is out on Middle and Moose ponds and the ice on Back Lake changed big time yesterday. Our forecast for the next several days is looking great with warm temperatures and sun, so the Tall Timber boats will be launched sometime this week.  Back Lake went out on May 5th in 2014. Will it be Cinco de Mayo again???

Almost "Ice Out".
Almost “Ice Out”.

The stocking trucks have been rolling in Pittsburg these last two weeks dumping trout wherever they found open water. You might want to try the Trophy Stretch……. Back Lake was stocked along the shoreline wherever there was open water.  Once the ice is gone, it’s on!

Spring has finally arrived in Pittsburg. The moose are back on “Moose Alley”, the loons are at Lake Francis Inlet, and the birds are all a twitter.

The Rainbow Grille & Tavern opens Thursday night.  Great food and adult beverages. Woo Hoo!!!
