The ice peacefully went out today at Back Lake, and Lake Francis and First Connecticut Lake are close behind – expect them to be out this weekend.
If you told us two weeks ago that today would be the day that the ice would go out, we would have told you that you were crazy, but it miraculously happened. Of course the absolutely gorgeous weather that we’ve had over the last week had plenty to do with it, and once it started going, there was no stopping it.
The real proof came at about four o’clock today when we spotted the first boat trolling the lake, in search of some good holdover trout. N.H. Fish & Game also stocked the lake last week, so we imagine that there’s some good fishing on tap for this weekend.
Middle Pond has been stocked, and most likely Moose Pond too, but that is unconfirmed as of right now.
The Trophy Stretch has also been stocked, so if you want to get in some early season river fishing, get on up here – the water’s cold, but things should warm up as this great stretch of weather continues.
Our Rainbow Grille opens on Thursday night for our spring, summer and fall seasons.
Give us a call at 538-6651 to make a reservation, and don’t forget to stop by the fly shop for some trout teasing tackle and fish stories!
