The weather was spectacular today, as it appears that it will be again tomorrow – that kind of makes up for what we endured this winter. The fishing on Back Lake has been good for most of our guests that last few days as well, with all of the usual suspects working well on our trout.

Mostly brookies and rainbows so far from the reports of our guests, but there’s some brown trout out there as well. Don’t forget the smallmouth and largemouth bass – one of our young guests battled one to the boat this weekend and lost it at the last moment.

What’s working, you may ask?

Flies: Yellow Hornberg, Mickey Finn, Golden Demon – they are all bright in color, which seems to be the trick for attracting trout at this time of year. Brook trout especially fall prey to this strategy.

Lures: Super Duper, Colorado – while most anything shiny and bright should work, these two lures, year in and year out, boat the most fish on this lake. Don’t leave home without them …

Back Lake was stocked again last week, and in years past we have been fortunate to get another stocking by NH Fish & Game the week before Memorial Day.

Maybe it will happen again …
