Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

Catch & Release

010This photo on the left is of Jon Howe aka OMR with a huge brown trout he caught on April 5th, 2010.  Pittsburg was experiencing very mild weather that Spring which made it possible to fish the Upper Connecticut River.  I took a couple of sloppy photos (sorry Jon), and then we quickly released this beautiful hen brown. It was a moment that we will always remember and we felt great watching her swim away.

Jon's brownThis photo is a fiberglass mount of that same fish done by Peter Acampora of Acampora Taxidermy Studio, Wallingford CT, 203.294.0172. Jon met Peter last January at the Marlboro Fly Fishing Show and was impressed with Peter’s work, and decided to have a mount done of his trophy trout.  Peter did a great job and it hangs proudly in our home.

The Fly Fishing Show will be happening in Marlboro this coming weekend and Tall Timber will be there. Tom, Jon, and fly fishing guides Angus Boezeman and Dave Poole will all be at the Tall Timber booth slinging their usual BS, so please stop by to say hello.

Pittsburg’s upper Connecticut River is a very special piece of water with exceptional trophy fishing that needs to be protected. We have a petition to change some of the regulations to protect our spawning trout and the guys will be happy to fill you in on the proposed regulation changes.

Come visit the guys in Marlboro this weekend.  You’ll be glad you did.
