It was a great day to be out on the water today in the North Country.  OMR and his clients drifted the Connecticut River from Colebrook to Lemington, Vt., and they had a great day landing 20 + trout on a variety of flies.  In the morning they started with a White Marabou Muddler which picked up a few and then they switched to dries as the fish started rising. Terrestrials are always great at this time of year and one of OMR’s favorite is the Foam Cicada. It’s a crazy looking fly but it works.  Tim Fleury picked up this very nice rainbow on the Foam Cicada. Cinnamon Ants and a Black Beetle also got lots of action.  There were small Blue Wings coming off too, and my favorite BWO Emerger, the Challenged Pheasant Tail also worked well.

Back Lake has been on the slow side as of late. The hot weather the last few weeks must be driving the trout to the spring holes but today one of our guests did OK fishing with a Muddler Minnow. He picked up a few nice rainbows.

The weather for the next few days is looking great and the foliage up here is changing more and more every day.  It a beautiful time of year to be up here. Come on up.
