Happy 2012 everybody! It was a perfect day to ……. go fishing, of course!
A mild day with no wind beckoned Jon and I to give it a try today, and we weren’t disappointed. The flow was easy – 200 CFS – and there were a few fish willing to play along. We both went with streamers on sink tip and full sink lines, and I had a hook up within ten minutes. That first one would get away to fight another day, but about a half hour later I had another one on and this one wouldn’t get off. A nice 18″ salmon bulged the net, with Jon taking the rod so I could do a little filming. A gray soft hackled streamer landed the salmon. Jon also had a couple of taps, but never did hook up for good.
I’m hoping to have a video posted soon of the first fish of the season.
Keep watching the weather if you’re looking to get up this way for some winter fun, CT river style. Like everyone else, it’s been a mild winter here, so if you see a window of warm temps coming, give us a call. We’d like to hear your fish stories too.
