Fly Fishing NH's Connecticut Lakes Region

Winter on the Trophy…

The last two days have been just beautiful in Pittsburg,  so OMR and I have been out snowshoeing along the Connecticut River. Today we started out at Lake Francis Campground on the trail towards the Inlet, then past the Step Pools and then to the Skating Rink Pool.

Boundary Pond Update

I know that many of you love to fish Pittsburg’s outer ponds, particularly Boundary. “Boundary Pond” happens to be the  #1 searched for words on this blog. “Trophy Stretch” is in the #2 spot. So all of you Friends of Boundary Pond, we need your help.

Carroll County State Representative Gene Chandler, member of the Resources, Recreation and Development Committee has brought to my attention that he will be presenting House Bill 35, requesting F&G to obtain the rights to the dams so that they can go in and make the necessary repairs.

My first fish of 2011

Today we had one more day of mild temperatures in the forecast, and after hearing about Tom’s fish yesterday, we just had to do it. This was a treat for OMR, our friend Larry and I to fish the river this early in the season. This rainbow was also caught on a gray Soft Hackle Streamer, just like Tom’s.

Kicking Off 2011 …

It just had to be done. An unseasonably warm winter day, especially when that day just happens to be the opener of trout season on the Connecticut River, summons some of us to try our luck and get the fishing season off on the right note. Couple that with the fact that it was January 1, positively had me salivating at getting on the board first for the new year.
